Blurb from Goodreads:
"An explosive play that took critics and audiences by storm, Equus is Peter Shaffer's exploration of the way modern society has destroyed our ability to feel passion. Alan Strang is a disturbed youth whose dangerous obsession with horses leads him to commit an unspeakable act of violence. As psychiatrist Martin Dysart struggles to understand the motivation for Alan's brutality, he is increasingly drawn into Alan's web and eventually forced to question his own sanity. Equus is a timeless classic and a cornerstone of contemporary drama that delves into the darkest recesses of human existence."
Hm.
This is actually the first play I've read....that isn't Shakespeare. And....surprisingly, it went pretty smoothly.
And! Considering how I thought of this play as an old classic that was destined to bore me to death yet again....well....it didn't! And it was....kinda weird. But that's okay!
I enjoyed the little scenes....but the ending......the ending....I don't quite get it. It just ends so....so....abruptly! I would have liked another twenty or so pages, please and thank you!
Or maybe....my mind just isn't able to handle a book that's not about angst-ridden teenagers and their love triangles! My mind wasn't prepared! I'm not educated enough to appreciate a classic! And I'm not sure where I'm going with this anymore!
Um....aaanyways!
So...when I got this book, I thought to myself: a book where some crazy kid kills horses by stabbing them in the eyes, and he gets sent to this see this person (because no one else wanted to help him) who is supposedly able to help him with his mental issues.
I feel like all I got...was some weird boy who is kinda rude, kinda TOO direct, and a bunch of moments of memories....I don't know.....
I also thought I'd mention that.....I have a....terrible mind.
While reading this book, I found way too many things to be...um...how should I put this...?
Uh! Suffice to say, I may have bit a teensy bit immature while reading this play!
I hear there's a movie! And I want to watch it!
